JLF Valladolid 2026 to celebrate 70 years of Indo-Spanish cultural ties

JLF Valladolid 2026 features an impressive line-up of global literary voices including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi, William Dalrymple, Jeet Thayil, Jorge Volpi, Marta Robles among others.

As the warm hues of a spring evening blended with conversations on literature, culture, and diplomacy, the Embassy of Spain in India recently hosted the preview of JLF Valladolid, Spain 2026. Produced by Teamwork Arts in association with Casa de la India, the evening celebrated the growing cultural bridge between India and Spain ahead of the much-awaited literary gathering next year.

Hosted by H.E. Juan Antonio March Pujol, Ambassador of Spain to India, the event brought together diplomats, writers, and literary enthusiasts for an evening that reflected the spirit of dialogue and artistic exchange shared by the two nations. Addressing the gathering were Francisco Capote, Chargé d’Affaires of Spain in India, Sanjoy K. Roy, Managing Director of Teamwork Arts, and noted writer Namita Gokhale, Co-founder & Co-director of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

The year 2026 marks seventy years of Indo-Spanish diplomatic and cultural relations, making the upcoming edition of JLF Valladolid significant. Scheduled from 11th to 14th June 2026 across Madrid and Valladolid, the festival will open at IE School of Arts & Humanities in Madrid before moving to the scenic city of Valladolid.

Set amid the beautiful Campo Grande park, known for its peacocks, fountains, and tree-lined pathways, the festival will feature an impressive line-up of global literary voices including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi, William Dalrymple, Jeet Thayil, Jorge Volpi, Marta Robles, and several others.

Beyond literature, JLF Valladolid, Spain 2026 promises an immersive cultural experience through music, performances, gastronomy, and heritage walks. A specially curated Closing Gala at the historic 12th-century Abadía Retuerta, featuring Michelin-star chef Marc Segarra, is expected to be among the highlights of the festival.
